In 2019, the ESC took place in Israel for the third time. 41 countries took part in the show in Tel Aviv. With a total of 498 points, Dutch singer Duncan Laurence claimed the victory with his song “Arcade”. With only 26 points behind, Italy finished up in second place. Russia followed in third place, although beaten by far. Right behind, Switzerland was ranked fourth. “S!sters”, representing Germany, finished 25th. Austria failed to qualify from the Song Contest semi-final.

A look back at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018

Following the triumph of Salvador Sobral, Portugal hosted the ESC for the first time in 2018. 43 countries took part in the show in Lisbon. Israel’s representative Netta claimed the victory with her song “Toy”. With 529 points, she prevailed over Cyprus whose participating artist Eleni Foureira received 436 points. Cesár Sampson from Austria, who could convince the audience with his song “Nobody but You”, finished in third place. Germany ended up directly behind in fourth place, while Switzerland was again knocked out in the semi-final.

A look back at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017

Ukraine had the opportunity to host the ESC already for the second time. 41 European countries and Australia took part in the competition. Portugal won the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time with 758 points. Singer Salvador Sobral excited both the public and the jury and claimed the first victory for his country with his song in Portuguese. 17-year-old Kristian Kostov from Bulgaria finished in second place. Austria took the 16th place and Germany only made it to the second last place. As in the last years, Switzerland was already eliminated in the semi-final.

A look back at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016

The 61st ESC was held on 14th May 2016 in Stockholm. The city hosted the competition for the third time, following the years 1975 and 2000. Ukraine secured the first place with a record 534 points. Artist Jamala convinced the jury and the public with her song “1944”. Australia finished in second place with the song “Sound of Silence” and Russia came in third place with “You Are the Only One”. Just like in 2015, Germany finished in last place. Austria reached the 13th place while Switzerland was again knocked out in the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
