The 2020 F1 season
There aren’t relevant changes in either the technical or the sports regulations for the new F1 season. New on the Formula 1 race calendar would have been the Vietnam Grand Prix. Moreover, the Dutch Grand Prix is scheduled to return for the first time since 1985. However, it is unclear when and if the races will take place. But no F1 race will be held in Germany. There were also hardly any changes among drivers and teams: Esteban Ocon will succeed Nico Hülkenberg at Renault and Nicholas Latifi replaces Robert Kubica at Williams.
Looking back at the 2019 Formula 1 World Championship
The 70th Formula 1 World Championship was a clear case for Lewis Hamilton. The Brit won his third consecutive World Championship title bringing his total number of titles to six. The Mercedes driver won 11 of the 21 Grand Prix and secured the driver’s championship three races before the end of the season. His teammate Valtteri Bottas came second and become vice champion with 87 fewer points. Then followed the trio May Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel, but they were already far behind. Also the constructor’s title was therefore decided early. In the end, Toto Wolf’s team won the sixth consecutive F1 World Championship title with an advantage of more than 200 points.
Looking back at the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship
The 2018 F1 World Championship was the 69th season of Formula 1. Lewis Hamilton defended his title and became F1 World Champion for the fifth time. Until mid-season, the Brit fought a thrilling duel with Ferrari pilot Sebastian Vettel about the top position in the World Championship. Afterwards, Hamilton showed off his amazing skill and took the lead with four consecutive wins and was untouchable from then on. In the end, the World Champion had an 88-point advantage over his German rival. Also the constructor’s title was a clear matter for Mercedes. It was the fifth consecutive Formula 1 World Championship title for Toto Wolf’s team.
